BAPTISMS

Baptisms are usually held at the end of the main service on Sunday for the purpose of enabling the whole congregation to express their support. The priest says, "Will you who witness these vows do all in your power to support these persons in their life in Christ?" The people answer, "We will." Especially appropriate days for baptism are: The Great Vigil of Easter, the day of Pentecost, All Saints Day and the feast of the Baptism of our Lord, which is the first Sunday after the Epiphany.

Customarily there are three godparents for each child; for a girl, two godmothers and one godfather; for a boy, two godfathers and one godmother.

The parents of the child should meet with the priest for counseling, before the baptism is arranged.
